About
About
I am a backend-leaning software engineer focused on AI-first systems—APIs, data layers, and inference pipelines that make LLM-powered products reliable in production. I graduated Cum Laude from DePauw University with a B.A. in Computer Science and co-founded the DePauw AI Club.
AI-first backend
My strongest work sits at the intersection of backend engineering and applied AI. At MindMitra, I led a team of three to migrate AI and data workflows into a dedicated backend architecture—building a 25-endpoint Node.js API with a GPT-4 content pipeline across 40+ subdomains and ~300,000 embedding-based deduplication checks. For MediVise, I built a multi-tenant FastAPI ingestion layer with Phi-4-mini RAG, Supabase Row-Level Security, and hybrid sparse/dense retrieval with cached RxNorm lookups.
Backend and data platforms
Underneath the AI layer, I care about the same fundamentals as any strong backend role: schema design, query optimization, auth boundaries, validation, and test coverage. I optimized PostgreSQL ORM execution plans and composite indexes at Togglecorp, productized K-means and MLP models into Django serving endpoints, and built memory-efficient ETL pipelines over 200K+ behavioral records. I migrated exposed client-side credentials server-side at MindMitra and reached ~60% backend coverage across 65 automated tests.
How I work
I like owning problems end to end—from API contracts and data modeling through deployment and iteration on real user workflows. I am comfortable connecting backend AI services to mobile and web clients, but my deepest interest is making the service layer itself correct: retrieval quality, pipeline reliability, latency on inference paths, and clear boundaries around what AI should and should not do.
Team fit
I am looking for teams building backend or AI infrastructure where LLM features, retrieval systems, or model-serving layers are central to the product—not teams where AI is only a thin integration. I am especially interested in environments that value engineering rigor, thoughtful system design, and mentorship for early-career engineers.
Outside of engineering, I enjoy hiking, reading psychology, following developments in AI systems, and listening to EDM.
